"But stop the tape, that sunset still looks fake to me."

So it's been a while since I last posted. A really long while. SO I'll cover a few different aspects of my life right now.

School:
I'm doing much better in school this year than I ever have. I've went from the complete range of grades to B+ as my lowest grade. I feel good about it. I'm also trying to spend a year abroad with AFS during my gap year.

Sports:
Well, I finished out the Cross Country season. Got 10th place on JV at a conference meet. Joined Basketball, and signed up for Track in the spring. As well as starting to work out alot lately.

Martian Stereotype:
Well, MS finally got the "How to Fight A Red Polar Bear Underwater" EP out. Working on new material, have an idea for a music video.

Relationships:
Single now. Chasing after a really cute foreign exchange student. (:

Recommendation: Mayday Parade - Black Cat

"Lipstick Lullabies."

Well, it's been about two months since I wrote in this, and so much has happened. I'm just going to write this with different subjects.

Martian Stereotype:
We played a pretty successful outside show for homecoming. We made $30 which was all in tips, as well as having three guest musicians. A few videos from that night can be found here: youtube.com/martianstereotype. As well as that, on July 28th, we started recording our debut EP at The Black Bedroom Studio. We finished our EP nearly 4 weeks later, and named it "How To Fight A Red Polar Bear Underwater". Thanks to Trevor Carbon for being our engineer for the entire project. Two tracks can be found on our myspace here: MYSPACE. We also played a small set as a three piece opening at SLUGGERMANIA 4 at the Spot Tavern in Ashland, which featured a lineup of Us, Aphamy, The Side Project, Direct Hit! (Fuck you, Get pumped!), and The Tattle Tales.

End of summer, School, Cross Country, Etc:
Well, the summer came to an end, and cross country season started, and shortly after, school did too. So I've been running everyday and putting up with the horrors of school. Not much else to say.

Suggestion:

It's officially been a week since I last posted. Friday, I managed to get sick, with a fever of 102. and then on Saturday, I was scheduled to work and had to call in sick. We ended up going to the ER that evening, and fortunately, I had an ear infection. It was a better thing to get, then tonsillitis again.

Sunday, I was out of work again, due to a required 48 hours out. Monday, I went to the high school for marching band practice. (for the Homecoming Parade) Jake and I hung out after that, and we jammed. Tuesday, Paul came over, and we jammed before going to band practice. The first one after a month of being gone.

Then the next two days, including today, I spent playing Fallout 3 and then working.

So, I haven't updated this in four days... I'll just note the important stuff. Monday, I did pretty nothing worthy of notice. Tuesday, it was 100 degrees out, and we went into Boston. We visited the Harvard Museum of Natural History, where they have glass flowers. They looked amazingly real! Then we went to a music store just barely out of Boston, where I played and amazing bass guitar. A white fretless Yamaha.

Then wednesday went like this: car ride, waited, plane ride, waited, plane ride, dinner with the family, car ride. Then I finally arrived home. I got to play my new Jackson that night, and today. Today is also my one month anniversary with my amazing girlfriend!

And that's it.

Recommendation: The World According To Garp by John Irving. This is my all-time favorite book, and it is extremely screwed up. Read it.

Cousins, cousins, and... more cousins?

So I've decided to start updating this blog rather frequently. Daily, possibly, or somewhere close to that. As long as interesting stuff happens. Not much happened today however.

So, today was the 4th of July. My least favorite day of the year.America was founded on spite and revenge, and well, I would compare it to a teenager rebelling against their parents. So, I've heard many things about this day today, already. And so I'll just leave it at this.. I'm not fond of birthdays, especially the birthdays of places and things.

My 4th was spent at the house of my grandma's sister. Typical american family cookout. The only people who were really there were us, and her kids. Which meant that everyone there was related to me, by law or blood, and 90% were cousins. I have so many cousins here. Most of them, I haven't met, and the few that I have, I don't remember.

On another note, I went in a pool today!! Why is this a big deal? I have an extreme dislike/slight fear of water. Sure, the pool was only 4 feet deep or so, but still! And I went in a hot tub last night.

Now, I will leave you with my new closing part of every blog I write. I'm going to leave a suggestion of a book, song/album/band, movie, tv series, etc... You get the idea. I'm going to tell you to check out something good. Tonight, I leave you with a link to a catchy pop punk band. http://www.myspace.com/carpetriderock

Trip to MA. Part I.

So I decided I want to go to college on the east coast, where my family is originally from... which meant my parents shipped me off to Massachusetts to stay with various family members for 3 weeks, while I looked at colleges, among other things.

So the school year ended, and I was booked for my flight out on June 15. Exactly one week after school ended. The Saturday before I left, I took the ACT in the morning, which took a good 5 hours. Then I cleaned my room, and then went to work. Fun day, right? Monday, the day before I left, I spent the morning cleaning the house. Why?

Because I wanted my girlfriend to come over and meet my family, which made her the first ever to do so. So I and my mom cooked dinner, she came over, and it went well. The next day, I left.

While in Duluth, I purchased a new Jackson guitar, as well. My plane left Duluth at 12:42, to Minneapolis, MN. That plane was late, by about 10 to 20 minutes. I arrived in Boston around seven or so, and was picked up at the airport by my two uncles, and my little cousin.

The next day, my uncle and I walked around downtown Salem, MA, where they live. Thursday was uneventful. On Friday, we went to look at Fitchburg State, with my aunt, who went there herself. It was an unofficial tour, as she showed us around the campus herself.

From there I went back to Gardner with my aunt. She and my uncle have two little girls. I rode a bike into town, and hung out at a little store called City Music for a while. Then I rode back. My uncle got home from work, and I helped him with his drums.

He plays drums in a country/rock cover band called Boothill Express, with four other cool older dudes, him being the youngest of them.

I was his roadie for the weekend. Friday night, we headed to a private club called the PACC (Polish-American Country Club) where they were playing at a bar, and there was a car show outside it with easily over a hundred awesome cars. As we were heading in, a Pontiac Le Mans pulled up. Beautiful car. Sounded kickass, and he then proceeded to talk about it all weekend, and is probably still talking about it.

Four hours later, we (well, I really) packed up his kit and headed home. Late night, and I crashed on the couch. The next day, I was his roadie again for Acadien Day! We left, I set up most of his kit, and later on, left with my aunt and little cousins.

That night, I hung out with my aunt's neighbors upstairs. (The house is a duplex type thing, where one gets the upstairs apartment, and the other gets the downstairs.) They have an awesome little home studio, and dozens of guitars. The guy's name was Mark, and he plays bass in a local, and signed band, named The Franks.
